Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how DO DEVELOPMENT LLC (doing business as My Menu Chat) (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our websites, mobile applications, and related services (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Use.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
- Account and profile data: name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and similar identifiers you provide when you register or update your profile.
- User-generated content: text you enter and photos or images you upload (menu scans and dish photos), plus associated metadata needed to run those features.
- AI interaction data: when you use AI features we collect the inputs and outputs needed to run them, including chat messages and prompts, menu scan and dish photos, AI generated text, your corrections or confirmations of AI labels, and related session metadata. If you use voice features, we may process audio you provide for speech recognition or text to speech playback. Before these AI features run, the app shows an in app disclosure and asks for your explicit permission to share the described inputs with our AI service providers.
- Third-party and catalog content: menu text, prices, descriptions, photos, ratings, reviews, and venue information that restaurants, partners, mapping or place data providers, or other users supply, which we display, cache, translate, or process through the Services. Much of this material may be protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights owned by third parties.
- Preferences and health-related inputs: dietary preferences, food allergy selections, and related profile fields you save to personalize menu guidance. This is not medical information we use to diagnose or treat you; see our Terms of Use.
- Location information: if you allow access, approximate or precise location from your device to support nearby listings, distance sorting, community venue tagging, or optional background alerts.
- Technical and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, language, coarse IP-based information, diagnostics, and how you interact with the Services (features used, session duration) to operate, secure, and improve the Services.
- Crash and performance data: crash logs or similar diagnostics when enabled, to fix bugs and improve stability.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Services and your account.
- Operate features that process images and text with software, including artificial intelligence (“AI”) or machine learning (“ML”) systems, to recognize menus, answer questions, translate or localize content, filter or rank listings, and generate suggestions. Outputs are automated and may be incorrect or incomplete.
- AI and machine learning development. We may use content you submit (including text, images, audio where applicable, and corrections) and technical data derived from your use of the Services (such as feature usage and interaction patterns) to train, tune, evaluate, benchmark, and improve our and our affiliates’ models, algorithms, and products, and for related analytics and product development, in a manner comparable to how large consumer platforms use submitted content to improve automated systems, subject to applicable law. Where required, we will align this processing with your choices and any consent or opt-out mechanisms we offer in the Services or as mandated by law.
- Automated processing. We may use automated systems, including AI, to personalize explore results, menu guidance, allergy related filtering, and community feeds. These systems do not make legally binding decisions about you, but they influence what you see. Where required by law, you may have rights regarding automated processing; contact us to learn more.
- Personalize your experience and remember your settings (including language and explore preferences).
- Communicate with you about the Services, security, and policy updates; send transactional or service messages.
- Transactional email: account verification codes, password-reset messages, and partner onboarding notices (for example when a restaurant is approved for dashboard access). These messages are sent through our email delivery providers (such as Resend). We do not use these systems for unsolicited marketing campaigns.
- Operate community features (feeds, posts, groups) and enforce our Terms, including responding to reports of concerning content.
- Detect, investigate, and help prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms.
- Comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect rights, safety, and property.
3. Legal bases (EEA/UK/Swiss users)
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on appropriate lawful bases such as: performance of a contract (providing the Services); legitimate interests (operating, securing, and improving the Services, including certain analytics, anti-fraud measures, and AI powered personalization where permitted); consent where required (for example optional processing where we ask); and legal obligations. Where automated processing produces legal or similarly significant effects, we will comply with applicable requirements.
4. Sharing of information
We may share information with service providers who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations, including:
- Cloud infrastructure and authentication (for example Amazon Web Services, including Amazon Cognito for account sign-up and sign-in).
- Transactional email (for example Resend) to deliver verification and service messages.
- AI inference providers: when you use menu chat, voice talk mode, menu or dish photo analysis, allergy related filtering, search narration, or similar AI features—and after you agree in the in app AI data sharing disclosure—we send relevant inputs to Anthropic (Claude) to generate answers and labels. Claude may use Anthropic web search to retrieve public web results when a question needs facts beyond the menu. Those inputs may include your question text, conversation context, menu and restaurant context, allergy or dietary preference fields you saved, and images you upload for menu or dish analysis.
- Google speech services: when needed for voice, we use Google Cloud Speech to Text and Google Cloud Text to Speech. Spoken audio or transcripts may be processed by these Google services.
- Translation services (for example Amazon Translate on AWS) when we translate menus, reviews, or other text for display in your chosen language.
- Mapping and place data providers (for example Google Places and Maps) when you use map, explore, or venue photo features.
- Payment platforms (for example Apple) when you purchase subscriptions or in-app products—we receive transaction-related information from the platform, not your full payment card details.
- Analytics or crash reporting when enabled, to understand usage and fix defects (events are sent to our AWS backed ingest and may be forwarded to Amazon Pinpoint).
We may also share with affiliates for purposes consistent with this policy; legal and safety recipients when required by law or to protect users; and in business transfers (merger, acquisition, or sale of assets), subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell your personal information for money as traditionally defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA sense of “sell.” If we ever offer financial incentives or share data in a way that qualifies as “sale” or “sharing” under U.S. state laws, we will describe that activity and your choices as required.
5. Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services, for the purposes described in this Policy, and as required by law. Community posts and profile data may persist until you delete them or your account, subject to backup and legal retention limits. Chat prompts and AI responses we store for your account are kept while your account remains active and for a limited period afterward for abuse prevention, debugging, and legal compliance, then deleted or de identified. Training datasets, model related artifacts, and cached third party catalog content may be retained in aggregated, de-identified, or securely stored forms as appropriate for improving the Services, complying with partner licenses, and resolving disputes. Our AI service providers (including Anthropic and Google) process request data to return a response and retain it according to their agreements with us and their own policies; we configure retention where the provider allows, and we do not sell your chat content.
6. Your choices and rights
You may access, update, or delete certain account information in the app (including profile fields and saved menus you control). You may delete your account in Settings → Delete account, which initiates deletion of data we store for your account, subject to legal retention requirements.
You can review or change the in app AI data sharing permission under Settings → Legal → AI data sharing. If you decline, browsing and non AI features remain available; AI Assistant answers, Talk mode, and related AI processing that send your inputs to Anthropic or Google stay off until you agree.
Depending on your region, you may have additional rights (access, portability, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, or withdrawal of consent). To exercise rights, contact us at contact@mymenuchat.com. You may appeal denials where applicable.
7. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
8. International transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Intellectual property and third-party materials
The Services, including our software, branding, logos, user interface, databases we compile, and documentation, are owned by DO DEVELOPMENT LLC or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Except for the limited rights granted in our Terms of Use, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from our Services or our proprietary materials without our prior written permission.
Menu text, restaurant photos, place photos, ratings, reviews, and other materials shown in the Services may be owned by restaurants, users, mapping or media providers, or other third parties. We display and process such materials to operate the Services under licenses, partner agreements, user grants, or as permitted by law. Those third parties retain their rights. Nothing in this Policy transfers ownership of third party copyrighted or proprietary content to you.
11. Third-party services
The Services may link to or integrate third-party sites or services (for example maps, restaurants’ own pages, or platform sign-in). Their practices are governed by their policies, not this one.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice as required by law.
